» ‘allow people to post items on my auction’

By checking ‘allow people to post items on my auction’ box, you can let people participate in your auction by adding their items for sale. They will manage their own selling process. You can also click the link ‘allow people to post items on my auction’ after you sign up and when you sign in, or disable it when you need to.

This is a very interesting concept. It is inspired by neighborhood yardsale. Neighborhood/group yard sales always generate more traffic than a single family yard sale, so you really want to ‘allow people to post items on my auction’.

Another reason you want to ‘allow people to post items on my auction’ is when you use MyBidList to do a fundraising event. MyBidList can become a very powerful tool for people who need to raise money in a fun and easy way. You would simply ask people to donate their stuff by the clicking ‘participate’ link, and they would upload their item information when they visit your MyBidList page (http://www.mybidlist.com/your_id_number). By allowing people to donate their stuff and manage their own selling process, you will make your fundraising event very fun and a true community effort. You will receive an email when someone ‘participates’ in your auction by posting an item. You will have the opportunity to ‘approve item for listing’ by clicking a link in the notification email. If you decided not to approve the item, simply don’t do anything. The item will never show up in your MyBidList auction without your approval. (You might want to reply to the email explaining to the participant why you are not approving the submitted item.)

» ‘post item’

By clicking ‘post item’ link (if allowed by the seller), you can post an item onto the current auction list that you are viewing and enjoy the popularity this auction web site provides. As a result, more people will see your item and bid on it. Once you participated and posted an item into this auction list, the owner/administrator of this web site will have to approve your item to be listed under the web site. You will get an email notification when your item is approved. After that, let the bidding begin and you get to manage your own selling process.

» You can now provide PayPal and Google Checkout as payment options for each of your auction items.

When an auction item ends with a winner, you can provide your PayPal or Google Checkout Merchant account for payment.

Here are the steps:

  1. Check your email for the bidding notification and click the encrypted link to bring up the item auction page. There, you can see the price of the winning bid.
  2. Sign in to your PayPal and/or Google Checkout account, and create a PayPal ‘buynow’ button, and/or a Google Checkout ‘buynow’ button with the winning price value (plus tax and shipping charge if necessary).
  3. Copy & paste the button scripts into ‘Instruction for winner’ fields and click ‘update’. (You should also instruct the winner all payment options and to click on one of the buttons, preceeding the button scripts)
  4. The winner will receive an email notification for confirmation and instructions, and will be able to click on one of the payment buttons.
