How do I start?

June 15, 2006

Step 1
BUILD
your own auction web site here!

Step 2
PROMOTE your auction, here is how!

Step 3
Let the BIDDING begin!

Step 4
Tell your Friends!

After you created your own auction web site, the next most important thing that you have to do is to promote your auction.

1. Email -

This is the first thing you should do. Put your auction web address (MyBidList url) as your email signature. Send your auction web address (http://www.mybidlist.com/your_auction_number) to as many people as you can and ask them to forward to as many people as they can. This is the most effective way of getting the news out for free.

2. Online web sites -

Post your auction web address to all web sites that you can find, free or paid. Remember to include your auction web address – http://www.mybidlist.com/your_auction_number You can find this address on top of all your auction list page or check the email when you first sign up MyBidList.

http://www.craigslist.org/

This is very popular in the U.S. and it is free. First, select the city on the right side of the page. Post a free message under ‘for sale’ category.

http://www.kijiji.com/

If you are outside of the U.S., this new classified is getting popular.

http://www.ebay.com/

You will be surprised how many buyers will come to your auction if you pay nearly nothing just to post one of your popular items on eBay and include your auction web address in the message. If you are outside of the U.S., ebay might be in your local country. Just go to http://www.google.com and search “eBay name_of_the_country”.

http://auctions.yahoo.com/

    Again, same as ebay.

http://base.google.com/

This is the google’s answer to classified, and it is free.

http://classifieds.yahoo.com/

    The name says it all.

http://www.oodle.com/

Select a city and post your ad, it will get listed on many classified sitesThere are so many others that you can find, just google search them.

3. Offline media -

The traditional media still works, especially if you want to get all the locals. Print out flyers and post at local supermarkets, laundry mat or laundromat(if you want to spell it correctly), restaurants, bus stops, community or apartment bulletin boards. Also, local newspapers and magazines have classified ads session.

There are so many ways to promote your auction. Use your creativity. But remember, your auction will be only as successful as your promotion effort is! When you find some that work for your, don’t forget to let us know or come back and leave comments to share with everyone.

How do I void a bid?

June 14, 2006

From time to time, you need to void a bid because the buyer placed a bid by accident or for other reasons. It is very easy to void a bid as a seller. The system will send out an email to notify the buyer that the bid has been voided and the runner up will also get an email stating that he/she has the current highest bid now.

Here are the step:

1. Sign in to your account and select the item you want to manage.

2. In the item view, click the link showing the current highest bid email on the top of the page.

3. In the bid history view, you will be able to void a bid or sell it right away to any bid.

1. Sign in at http://www.mybidlist.com/

2. Click the item that you would like to remove.

3. Now in item view, you can click the link ‘remove from auction‘ on the top corner.

Note: Be careful in removing an auction item. Once you remove the item, it will no longer show up in the auction when buyers visit your auction.

1. Sign in at http://www.mybidlist.com/

2. Click the item that you would like to make available again.

3. Now in item view, click the link ‘make available‘.
