» What is a MyBidList url (web site address)?
If you created an auction site by using MyBidList.com, you will have a MyBidList url that you can take with you to market and promote in any way you can think of (i.e. in an email signature, in your MySpace page, post onto classifieds sites like craigslist.com, kijiji.com, Google Base, Yahoo Classifieds, Edgeio, LiveDeal, Oodle, customers mailing list, your own web site etc.)
*Example of your MyBidList url will be: http://www.mybidlist.com/your_id_number
» How do I put MyBidList buttons on any web page?
– button for browsing auction.
– button for posting item.
There are two types of MyBidList buttons, one for user to browse your auctions and one for user to post items onto your auction (If you allow people to particiate in your auction). You can put MyBidList buttons onto any web page you want, whether it is on MySpace.com, facebook.com or craigslist.org etc.
- Sign in to your MyBidList account and click on the “set up” link in the top menu, and copy & paste the code snippet to anywhere in your website or webpage html code.
OR
- On your MyBidList url page (http://www.mybidlist.com/your_id_number), click “MyBidList button” link and copy & paste the code snippet to anywhere in your webpage html code.
» Why “allow people to post items on my auction”?
By checking “allow people to post items on my auction” box, you can let people participate in your auction by adding items onto your MyBidList auction. They will manage their own selling process. You can also click the link “allow people to post items on my auction” when you sign in, or disable it when you need to.
This is a very interesting concept. It is inspired by neighborhood yardsales. Neighborhood yardsales almost always generate more traffic than a single family yardsale, so you really want to “allow people to post items on my auction”.
Another reason you want to “allow people to post items on my auction” is when you use MyBidList to do a fundraising event. MyBidList can become a very powerful tool for people who want to find new ways to fundraise. It works very simple and easy. You would ask people to donate their stuff by clicking “participate” link and upload their stuff when they visit your MyBidList page (http://www.mybidlist.com/your_id_number). By allowing people to donate their stuff and manage their own selling process, you will make your fundraising event enjoyable and a true community effort.

Thanks.. this looks like it’d be great. I’m getting ready. What if any limitations on photos? Recommended sizes and/or numbers? Any limits on items in an auction? (50 ok?) Thanks!
August 17, 2006 at 1:30 am
Steve, this beta testing site has no limitation on number of items. So go ahead and see how many you have for sale. As long as you are not spamming. Photos are limited to 4 and it should be under 640×480 and less then 0.5 MBytes. After you create your own auction site, don’t for get to promote it. see FAQ for promotion ideas. Please remember to share your feedback with us. Enjoy!
